Sweet & Stickies are Back!

Recently there have been an increasing number of requests along the lines of 'when's the next dessert wines evening'. We thought it was only a couple of years ago we did one in the format of our Food & Wine Evenings. But then we checked and the last Dessert Wines Extravaganza was 10 years ago.

So of course the customers are right and we've put together a great menu and matched dessert wines to each course.

So if sweet and stickies are your thing then give us a call on 01903 743402. There are a few places left on both the 23rd and 24th of this month (October).

Flavours of Provence a great success!

Considering this was the first evening of this series we were really very pleased to more than half fill The Old Forge with 20 diners.
Even more satisfying was the fact that the next few 'Flavours of....' evenings are already receiving bookings; including 12 persons from the Flavours of Provence evening!

For those of you who missed the Provence evening here's the wines and menu served.

Churning tables

No. It's not about having butterflies in your stomach.
It's not about making butter from milk.
No, it's not the stock market dealers trying to make more commission.

It's the practice of moving customers through one's restaurant just as quickly as possible. Getting as many uses of each table in a service session as possible.

While we have no particular view of this practice and it makes sense for time-sensitive locations who perhaps have early dinners going to a show and later dinners for theatre suppers and is often the practice in larger towns here at The Old Forge Restaurant when you book a table for the evening it is yours for the evening.

No waiter hovering over you in that subtle manner that suggests it is time you asked for the bill.

The only way you might know your meal is coming to an end is the arrival of the complimentary Petit Fours with your coffee and Cathy taking a few moments at your table to ensure that you enjoyed your meal.

So for a relaxed evening with good food and some wonderful wines - and no churning of stomachs or tables give us a call on 01903 743402.
